John Green Otunga is project coordinator of the Sentinel Project's UnaHakika initiative, a mobile phone-based information service which takes a participatory, community-based approach to monitoring and countering the spread of dangerous rumours. He is the founder of Amani Centre Community Based Organization that runs a community radio and several other ICT for peace projects in Tana River County of Kenya. Earlier this year, Mr. Otunga won the Commonwealth Digital Challenge 2018. He is currently working on a project that he hopes will help counter fake news and incendiary rumours by integrating the SMS rumour management system and community radios in Kenya.
