Hansjoerg Strohmeyer has been the Chief of the Policy Development and Studies Branch of the UN Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs since 2007. From 1996 to 1998 he worked on the war crimes portfolio within the Office of the High Representative in Sarajevo. He has since held senior positions in several United Nations political and peacekeeping missions, including Lebanon, Liberia, Sudan, Kosovo, East Timor and Libya. He also visited numerous other field missions, including Zimbabwe, Afghanistan, Iraq, the Middle East and Ethiopia. In 1997 and 1998 he was a member of the German delegation to the International Criminal Court preparatory proceedings and the Rome Conference. He served as Secretary of the Secretary-General’s High-Level Task Force on the Global Food Crisis in 2008.
