The Individual and the Group: the Universal Declaration of Human Rights and the Genocide Convention at 70

Philippe Sands QC will close the symposium “The Universal Declaration of Human Rights at Seventy: Historical and Juridical Perspectives” with a lecture on The UDHR and the Genocide Convention at 70.
The event will take place on 5 December from 6:15pm at the Maison de la Paix in Geneva. Interested participants should register their attendance.
Philippe Sands QC is Professor of Law at University College London and a practicing barrister at Matrix Chambers. He has acted as Counsel before many international courts and tribunals, including the International Criminal Court and the International Court of Justice, and sits as an arbitrator at ICSID, the PCA and the Court of Arbitration for Sport. He is the author of East-West Street (2016), for which he received the European Book Price this year. He has also contributed to the New York Review of Books, Vanity Fair, Financial Times and The Guardian.
