This course is tailored to mid- to senior-level U.S. practitioners engaged in the design and implementation of comprehensive atrocities prevention and response strategies. It represents a first step towards a larger training and applied research initiative in support of US policy development in this field. Participants will include members of the US Atrocities Prevention Board. By the end of the three-day program, participants will be empowered to: 1) Grasp the normative and institutional framework of US and international atrocity prevention; 2) Identify early warning signs and assess the risk of atrocity crimes; and 3) Design a holistic strategy, including the full array of early prevention and crisis management tools, to address the risk or occurrence of atrocity crimes in various conflict contexts.
