The desire to protect people from genocide, war crimes, crimes against humanity and ethnic cleansing is a global issue. But once the point of acute violence has been reached, options to respond become limited. During this event, Adama Dieng (UN Special Adviser for the Prevention of Genocide), Matthew Rycroft CBE (Permanent Secretary at UK Department for International Development) and Dr Kate Ferguson (Director of Research and Policy at Protection Approaches) will discuss what can be done before mass atrocities are carried out so that governments can focus on prevention rather than response.
